These mountains of the Fauna and Flora Sanctuary are inhabited by different species of flora. The coffee wax palm, national tree of Colombia since 1985, and the Cumin crespo stand out.

The first is one of the most endangered palms in the country whose populations have been reduced. It is reborn and thrives in native forest areas and natural recovery areas.

Its large leaves with multiple pinnae on each side, its thin layer of wax, its pendulous flowers and orange fruits that feed the fauna, accompany visitors much of the way along the three trails in the area.

In the heart of the Protected Area, in its most remote areas of slopes and blades, small niches of Curly Cumin survive and spread, after having been overexploited due to its high timber value.
